Young children love to participate in the real work of the family, such as cleaning, dusting, cooking, gardening. Real child-size tools help them do a good job. This area of Montessori is called "Practical Life" and it is very important for many, many reasons. This work helps a child learn to control muscles, concentrate, focus, think logically and independently, make intelligent decisions, have fun, contribute to family life, enjoy spending time with parents, learn to take care of his own needs, the needs of others, take care of the home and garden, and on and on . . . NOTE: This are real tools, not toys. Many of them should be used under adult supervision. Safety first.
